At the heart of any Conservative association is the Executive Council, it’s governing body and we are looking for volunteers to serve on it this year.
Comprised of members from all wards of the constituency, plus the officers, it is the decision-making body that governs the associations activities.
- It approves how we spend our association’s funds.
- It approves candidate selections to stand in elections.
- It questions and agrees the strategic plan
- It holds officers, elected representatives and members to account
Having a broad composition ensures that the association is governed fairly and with consensus which is why the rules say we must have one. Taking up this position will entail attending about 4 meetings a year either in person or over zoom as the Executive council decides.
All members are invited to step forward and offer to sit on the council. Having more than one willing member in a ward means not everyone has to do it every year. Ideally Executive Council members are not elected representatives or those intending to stand for election as that can be a conflict of interest with the approvals process.
