Council fail to review permit parking scheme

The Old Town Parking Permit scheme, which began in December 2020, affects Grove Road, Stanmore Road and 5 surrounding streets.

The permit scheme has failed to resolve the parking issues during evenings and weekends, as the scheme is only enforced from 9.30am to 3pm on weekdays.

In October 2020, Labour Leader Cllr Sharon Taylor promised Old Town residents that the scheme would be reviewed after 12 months.

The Council have since revealed no formal review is planned, forcing residents to pay for another year of unsuitable permits.

Cllr Hanafin and Cllr John Duncan call on Cllr Taylor to keep her word and implement a proper review of this scheme.
